GarageBand Test – “Fade To Black”

I decided to test GarageBand ‘11 capabilities as as mobile demo recorder, using an 11” MacBook Air and a Line 6 Pod GX USB guitar recording interface. And it’s quite decent. The audio you hear doesn’t go through Line 6 software, just GarageBand and its amps and effects. The video was captured using an iPhone 4S camera.

By the way, the Line 6 POD Studio GX is a very good, cheap USB interface for recording guitar at home. It comes with Line 6’s Pod Farm software, which contains a lot of amp simulations and effects, and it’s expandable: you can buy new amps and effects at Line 6’s website.

The song is Metallica’s “Fade to Black” (Ride the Lightning, 1984).

Instruments used: an Yamaha APX-10 for acoustic parts and a Fender American Vintage ‘57 Stratocaster for the leads.
