This little camera here is the most powerful point-and-shoot ever! Yesterday it was raining and I decided to leave the D90 at home, so I went to the MoMA carrying only the S90.
The S90 has a very fast lens (f/2), full manual controls, it’s the size of a pack of cigarettes and can fit in any pocket. It’s the ultimate ultra-portable for the photo enthusiast. Think of it as a Canon G11 in a smaller package. The only relevant difference between the two is that the G11 has a TTL shoe for an external flash. But that kinda of defeats the purpose of a portable point-and-shoot.
The image quality doesn’t match a DSLR, of course, but it’s far better than any other point-and-shoot (even the Panasonic LX-3). If you can afford it and don’t need a bigger camera, I strongly recommend it.
Take a look at some shots I took today in New York and see it for yourself.
