Apple Magic Mouse impressions

Apple Magic Mouse

Today I went to the Louvre’s Apple Store (again!) and bought a Magic Mouse. I love my touchpad, but it was loose and I don’t have the right tools to repair it here in Paris, so I decided to get a mouse.

The new Magic Mouse feels great in my hand. Completely opposite from the sensation I had when I used the Mighty Mouse for the first time – I played with plastic toys more solid and resistant than that when I was a child. No plastic crap sensation on the new Magic Mouse, though. It has an aluminum chassis and a plastic top shell that feels like glass. The buttonless design is very beautiful.

The multitouch surface itself is a button, like the touchpad on the MacBook Pro and the idea of a multitouch on the top of a mouse is genius – it’s very handy! But nothing is perfect… I miss the 4-finger swipe gestures from the MacBook. Whenever I want those, I have to use my left hand on the touchpad.

Another good thing is that the batteries don’t seem to drain too fast. This is amazing for a bluetooth mouse.

So far, no problems. Let’s hope it stays like this! 🙂
