IBM announced its new Blue Gene/Q supercomputer. Powered by 18-core SMT-4 PowerPC A2 processors, it will reach 20 petaflops of peak performance and it is expected to be the most power-efficient computer at 2 gigaflops per Watt.
As you may know from my profile, I worked on the processor’s enablement on Linux. It’s great to see it out there on this cool supercomputer!
