Guitar Pedalboard Project: Chorus pedal

Guitar Pedalboard Project: Chorus pedal - Guitar Pedalboard

While looking for an Ibanez CS9 Chorus pedal for my Guitar Pedalboard Project, I came across this little gem from tc electronic: the Corona Chorus. I couldn’t find the Ibanez CS9 anywhere, so I decided to give it a try. And it was great!

tc electronic Corona Chorus: a great new chorus pedal

The ‘chorus’ mode features a tone nearly identical to the classic world-renowned tc electronic Stereo Chorus/Flanger, which is my choice of chorus for 99% of my use of this pedal, since I really dig that Eric Johnson-like tone. Besides having a great chorus tone, the Corona Chorus also supports tc electronic’s new Tone Print technology.

This new technology consists in uploading new tone presets to your chorus pedal, either via USB or an iOS or Android app.

The mobile app app approach is very clever: the app emits the bitstream of the file through an audible output, which is captured by the pickups and transmitted to the pedal. This way you may update your presets anywhere, given that you have an internet connection on your mobile device.

For the Corona Chorus, I really recommend John Petrucci’s presets. They are the best available so far, especially for using on top of distorted tones.

Pedalboard update

With this change to the chorus unit, the project now looks like this:

My next step will probably be to remove the Equalizer and add a Fuzz. So stay tune for more news!
