Assembling the new studio

Studio

Since I finished the new office, I haven’t had anywhere else to play/record the guitar. And that was driving me nuts, to be honest. So last night, I decided to start assembling the new recording studio. Which isn’t actually a physical studio.

Since I don’t have much time to play these days, and I’m also practicing a lot the piano, I wanted something modular, that could be carried around between the office and the piano room. So I started everything with the digital recorder, which is an old Boss BR-900CD I had lying around here for a while (pictured above). The downside is that it only records in 44.1kHz/24-bit, but that’s enough for my demos. It has some digital guitar amps built-in, so I don’t need an amp anymore (I actually don’t own any at the moment).

For the guitar, I’m relying on my old pedalboard for effects, as I found out that digital rack stuff doesn’t work for me – I like old, organic pedals for my effects.

Pedalboard

So I need the pedalboard, the recorder, a guitar and I’m all set. I still have Guitar Rig 3 on my PC, though, in case I need more versatility. For the piano, I just need that and the recorder. It works like a breeze. 🙂

Oh, and for monitoring, I use a Behringer HPS5000 headphone, which is nice enough for that purpose.
